About the Event
Forgotten who you are beyond the labels of the everyday and constraints of everyday routine? Re-connect with the very essence of your being on this series of day retreats designed to hold and to nurture your wild essence, helping you remember your raw, untamed nature.
Each day is themed around an element and energetic centre, starting with earth and the root chakra. Lean into the soft, dense lush foliage of the earth and reconnect with your roots during this transformative one day retreat as we revere and remember the quality of home that resides with us.
“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.”
~ Khalil Gibran
Responsible for our sense of security and self, the root is the primal foundation for all of the dreams we want to create, and is connected intimately to the world around us and beneath our feet. Without a balanced and connected root chakra, all dreams are built on sand, visions failing to manifest in reality.
Who is this for?
If you’re tired of the drudgery of the everyday and want to reignite the spark in your eye, and lust for life this is for you. Reconnect with yourself and with a powerful support network of like minded sisters as we embrace all parts of being and go beyond the conditioning of the everyday.
Our day will flow as follows:
2-2:30pm Welcome circle
2:30 - 4pm Rooting to Rise: Muladhara Yoga Session
4-4:30pm Tea break
4:30-5:30pm Clay play: hands in the earth
5:30-7pm Awakened Belly Dance: Root Chakra
7-8pm Sharing & feasting
8-8:30pm Closing circle
Can I attend any/all of the Wild Women day retreats?
Yes, you don’t need to attend the previous retreats in order to benefit from them. Although there is a natural progression and development of the themes/content as each day progresses further along the chakra system, each retreat is designed to be an experience in it’s own right. Expect an extra potent process however if you can commit to each in order!
Do I need yoga experience?
No, the yoga session will be accessible wherever you’re at on your yoga journey.
Do I need (belly)dance experience/ a special outfit etc?
No! Awakened belly dance is also not what you expect, far removed from typical styles of bellydance and instead focused on the energetic experience of embodying each energy centre or chakra. It is not focused on technique, performance or aesthetic, and is a powerful and cathartic process which takes you on a transformative journey. You don’t need to wear a money skirt etc, wear whatever makes you feel alive that you can move comfortably in. Layers are recommended so you can easily adjust with fluctuations in body temp.
Do I need a certain level of fitness?
A general level of fitness will be helpful though not strictly necessary. The yoga session will be gentle to moderate in terms of physical exertion. The dance session can be moderate to intense in terms of movement, but breaks are always available as is sitting instead of standing if required due to injury etc.
Who is this not suitable for?
Those under 16, those not identifying as women & pregnant folk.
What should I bring/wear?
Yoga mats, props, blanket and cushion will be provided, as will a vegetarian lunch and snacks. Please bring a water bottle, mug/thermos for tea and a notepad & pen. Wear comfortable clothes to move in that allow you to feel sensual and free. Vegetarian food will be provided for our final feast (please let me know if you have any allergies I need to be aware of) but please feel free to bring snacks to share. As this day is exploring the energy of the earth element and muladhara chakra related snacks are encouraged (eg grounding foods, red in colour)!
How much is the investment?
The investment for each day retreats is £88. If you attend more than one workshop you receive an £8 discount for each ~ use the code ‘DEVI’ at checkout to apply this.
Who is conducting the session?
Marie is a yoga and dance facilitator in awe of the dance of life. Recently returned from her latest adventure in India immersing herself in a tantric expansion of embodiment and exploration, she is keenly aware of the power of dance, music, embodiment and sensuality in reigniting ones inner power or shakti, and is passionate about creating spaces to guide others to tap into this.
